Brampton Man Arrested - Charged With Child Luring
BRAMPTON, ON, May 7 /CNW/ - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Child Pornography Section (Project P), with the assistance of Peel Regional Police Service Child Pornography and Vice Units, have arrested and charged a 47-year-old man following an Internet luring investigation.
On Thursday May 6, 2004, as a result of a two-week investigation, investigators arrested a man at a restaurant in Scarborough. The man believed that he was going to meet a 13-year-old female for a sexual purpose. The man has been charged with one count of Luring, and one count of Invitation to Sexual Touching.
Subsequent to the arrest, a search warrant was executed at a residence at 16 Heathwood Dr, Brampton, Ontario. Officers seized three computer systems, computer peripherals, floppy diskettes, CD Roms and other articles pertinent to the investigation.
Charged with using a computer to communicate to a person under the age of 14 years to facilitate the commission of an offence (Section 152 - Invitation to Sexual Touching, Section 151 Attempt Sexual Interference) is David Prescod of Heathwood Drive in Brampton, Ontario. Prescod is scheduled for a bail hearing in Ontario Provincial Court, Brampton today (May 7, 2004).
The investigation is continuing.
Parents are urged to monitor the use of the computers in their home and to take an active role in their children's activities when using the Internet.
